Last Season
Twenty-one goals and 44 points in all 82 games on 209 shots, plus-three, eighteen minutes a night. He led the club in five-on-five ice time among forwards and played 41 percent of it with Byfield.
The Finesse Game
Not a flashy player and not trying to be. The shot is a good one — he gets a lot of them away, he shoots from places that produce rebounds, and the ten percent conversion rate is honest for the kind of chance he takes.
What makes him useful on a scoring line is that he retrieves pucks and gives them to people who can do more with them. He arrives on the forecheck first, wins it back, and then plays a simple supporting game rather than trying to be the creator. That is a real skill and it is why he keeps ending up alongside the team’s better players.
The skating is solid without being a weapon. He is quick enough to arrive on time, which is all his game requires.
The Physical Game
Six-one and 205, and he is willing everywhere. He finishes checks on the forecheck, goes to the net, and takes the cross-checks that come with standing there. Eighteen penalty minutes across a full season says he does it without losing his head.
The Intangibles
Twenty-four this season, three years in, and improving on schedule. There is nothing about his game that depends on a skill that will disappear.
The ceiling is probably a 25-goal, 55-point winger who plays in every situation, which is a very good outcome for the eighty-third pick and better than most of the players taken ahead of him.
